Immunoglobulin D

Immunoglobulin D is present in very small quantities in the serum. Although its structure is similar to that of the other immunoglobulins, its functional role is not well characterized. Notably, there is a rare syndrome, hyper-IgD, characterized by periodic fevers, flushing, gastrointestinal complaints, and arthralgias.
